John founded New Direx, Inc. in 1993 in New York with the concept of merging world class freight forwarding expertise with great customer service experiences. The success of New Direx stems from John’s high energy, precision focus and perseverance to get the job done regardless of difficulties and challenges that often naturally present themselves in the world of shipping.

John started his career in banking on Wall Street before he went to business school. While earning his MBA, he coached three sports at his Alma Mater, Amherst College. He credits his coaching experiences with learning the fine art of managing people. John leads his staff by example with his hands-on style. He sets the pace with quality care of customers’ shipments to ensure seamless transportation of international and domestic cargo by air, ocean, rail and truck. John’s diligence and professionalism created a vast network of working personal partnerships with agents worldwide.

Under John’s guidance, New Direx became a bi-coastal company when it expanded to California in 2005. The East Coast branch focuses on customs brokerage and handling diverse commodities such as textiles, machinery, helium and tea. The West Coast offers warehousing and the handling of high-value, time-sensitive cargo. John oversees the entire operation ensuring consistent quality and customer service as a top priority.

John is a board member of The Freight Club, an exclusive network for freight forwarding companies worldwide.

He is a graduate of Amherst College and the University Of Massachusetts Graduate School Of Business. While at Amherst College, John was an All New England wrestler as well as a member of the soccer and crew teams.

Outside of work, John is a passionate follower of collegiate wrestling. He enjoys live music, sushi on Friday nights, kayaking and walking coastal trails on Long Island where he lives. John is married to Julie and they have two children, Troy and Sheila.
